ANTONIO MASCARÓ S.L. has belonged to the MASCARÓ family for 3 generations. The wineries and distillery of our family are in Vilafranca de Penedés, 48 Km from Barcelona.
The founder of the company Don Narciso Mascaró Marcé was born in 1894 at the heart of a family devoted to buying and selling wines. During the 1920’s, Narciso became independent from the family business, but continued to work as a trader in Wines and Spirits. In 1946 Narciso began to trade products under the MASCARÓ trademark with the support of his son Antonio Mascaró who was the starter of the export activity.
In 1988 Montserrat, the daughter of Antonio Mascaró, joined the company. Her Agricultural Engineering studies and day-to-day work alongside her father provided her with an in-depth understanding of the production process. Today the company continues to be completely run by Ms. Montserrat.
MASCARÓ is dedicated to the production of Premium Wines, Cava and Spirits.
For the production of Cavas we own two proprieties, named “Mas Miquel” and “El Castell”, where all the grapes for making the Cavas are picked by hand and collected in small crates so they can be taken to the cellar.
The bunches of grapes are pressed in their entirety and only the free-run juice is conserved and fermented at a controlled temperature to obtain a high-quality Cava wine base.
At MASCARÓ we believe that ageing over lees provides the Cava with a special quality. That is why we produce Cavas Reserva, aged for more than 15 months, and Gran Reserva, with a minimum ageing of 30 months.
We also have our own distillery were we do Premium Brandy and Spirits.
The personal style of the products made by MASCARÓ is based on respect for their specific personality, and the conservation of their essential character and freshness throughout the entire production and ageing process.
