Mas Codina is one of the few estate wineries situated in the heart of the Alt Penedès region, 40 kilometers from Barcelona, which only uses estate-grown grapes in its production of wines and cavas.
Mas Codina is a 40 hectare estate winery dating from 1681 that has always been dedicated to the growing of grapes and wine production. It was only in 1985 that Antoni Garriga Carbó, the current owner of the Mas Codina estate, started bottling wine and cava derived from grapes from his own vineyard.
A range of high quality wines and cavas, which have become extremely popular, is the result of the family’s passion for vineyards and wines. There is an ideal climatic condition in the Alt Penedès region. Rainfall of 550 l/m allows for the growth of the varieties of grapes that result in such popular products on the market. The fact that production per hectare is limited is another factor to be taken into account.
One of the most important characteristics of our cellar is that only grapes harvested on the estate are used to produce our wines and cavas. No wine is bought off the property, thus production is controlled and limited and becomes a chef d’oeuvre available to connoisseurs.
Mas Codina has readily taken on the challenge of producing wines that convey the unique personality of the geographical area and terroir from which they originate.
