Mas d’en Blei (DOQ Priorat), a little treasure in Priorat
Mas d’en Blei is a privileged place in the Priorat: 7 hectares of vineyards on the banks of the river Siurana, in Morera de Montsant, in the heart of the Priorat county.
The vines grow amongst typical Mediterranean landscape. There, perfectly integrated into the environment, stands our winery and a very old farmhouse, built before 1756. Mainly local varieties such as Grenache and Carignan were planted.
The characteristic values of Priorat can easily be found at Mas d’en Blei: the prominence of llicorella (the local name for a type of slate), “costers” or steeply sloping vineyards, which yield few grapes. Hence its wines display the result of this little Priorat treasure as well as a careful winemaking process.
Celler de l’Era (DO Montsant), a Montsant winery full of character
The “Llicorella”, the privileged microclimate, the organic farming and the use of technology are the keys to produce the characteristic fresh and fruited wines of Celler de l’Era. Celler de l’Era is a county house from Middle Age located in the vicinity of Cornudella de Montsant. There are twelve hectares of rolling terrain, planted with different varieties. Some are local, such as Grenache and Carignan and some have been introduced in recent years, such as Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon. The ancient dry stonewalls which support tiny terraces known locally as “marges” speak of the effort to make the best of any available land in this area.
Mas d’en Blei and Celler de l’Era are two wineries that are collaborating in all the processes. They are two interpretations of the same dream. They are based on similar hopes and ideas. Both of them are familiar projects, which were born with the same aim: to recover the land and its values; and about the need of passing this legacy on to children and grandchildren, as also to all the people whom share our wines.
